PROJECT OVERVIEW:
The 39th Avenue Coffee House is a fictional beloved local coffee shop with an eclectic vibe, located in a converted Victorian house in the fictional town of Belmont, Oregon. The shop is known for its cozy atmosphere and quirky charm, making it a favorite gathering spot for locals.
For this Halloween season, the 39th Avenue Coffee House wants to create a festive atmosphere throughout October, highlighting beverage and pastry specials and culminating in a special Halloween Day event featuring discounts for those in costumes, treats, prizes, and a pumpkin carving contest.
SCOPE OF PROJECT: This project is a Halloween marketing campaign designed to highlight the holiday offerings leading up to the big Halloween celebration on Halloween Day. It comprises 17 deliverables including single-image posts, Instagram story templates, an e-newsletter template, a Halloween specials menu, and two versions of a flyer to promote the big Halloween bash.CHALLENGE: One of the biggest challenges in holiday projects like this is striking the perfect balance between capturing the spirit of the holiday and staying true to the brand's unique identity. It's about creating standout designs that feel fresh and authentic, steering clear of the generic templates that so many others rely on.
SOLUTION: I started with the funky fonts already used by the regular brand, then added retro Halloween colors, a bespoke spot illustration of some jack-o-lanterns, and a couple of color-coordinated harlequin patterns. I used the regular logo, which fit nicely and tied the project to the original branding. This mini-brand perfectly reflects the quirky, eclectic vibe of the coffee shop. It's distinctive and unique and is more of a sub-brand because it can be reused for years to come.
